How NewBatteries handles information submitted through the battery finder prototype.

1. About this notice

This privacy notice explains how NewBatteries handles any information you provide when using the battery finder or other parts of this website. NewBatteries is an early-stage prototype and this notice reflects the current prototype behaviour.

2. What information is collected

The battery finder can ask for:

  • Equipment type, make, and model
  • Battery identification details (codes, specifications, or photo descriptions)
  • Optional supporting details such as voltage, chemistry, dimensions, and start-stop requirements
  • Optional supplier request details (service type, location, and contact details) only if you choose “Find a supplier” after seeing a preliminary result

3. How information is currently handled (prototype)

In this prototype stage:

  • Battery match processing is performed in your browser only.
  • Information entered into the finder is stored only in your browser's session storage for the duration of your browser session.
  • Session storage is cleared when you close your browser tab.
  • No information is transmitted to any server, supplier, or third party.
  • No email is sent, no enquiry is logged, and no database record is created.
  • Photos described in the finder are not uploaded or stored.

4. Cookies and analytics

This prototype does not set any cookies. No analytics or tracking scripts are present. No third-party services are loaded for battery matching.

5. Third parties

NewBatteries does not currently share any finder information with any third party. Supplier connection and contact details are optional prototype fields and are still not transmitted in this stage.

6. Your rights

Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of personal information held about you. As no data is currently stored by this prototype, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete.

7. Changes to this notice

This notice will be updated as the platform develops. The current version applies only to the prototype and does not constitute a full privacy policy for a commercial service.
